Are you a violin teacher who wants to play viola? Or are you an orchestra teacher who majored in a different instrument who’s thinking about gaining some string player skills?

Students of all ages welcome. Young beginners aged 10 and below need a parent present to assist in their learning; older children may also have a parent present to observe and make notes. Teachers with expertise on another instrument are also welcome. Lessons take place through video conference worldwide or in person in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China.

Traditional classical studies are used including scales, etudes and pieces, as well as the repertoire of music created by female composers. Some of the methods used include the Fiddle Time series by Kathy and David Blackwell, Suzuki books and recordings, Essential Elements for Strings, Applebaum’s Beautiful Music for Two Violins and more. Bonny’s own violin teacher-grandfathers were David Oistrakh and Ivan Galamian, who taught her teachers Peter Kaman and Dana Pomerantz-Mazurkevitch. Bonny has had instruction from Eugene Fodor, Roman Totenberg, Clayton Hoener and Guo Guo Guang.
